Milestones are the primary method of progression in the game, allowing the pioneer to unlock new buildings, recipes, equipment, and more. They can be completed at the HUB Terminal by inputting the specified resources. To do so, move near the terminal (the PC-shaped booth inside the HUB), interact E with it, then Ctrl+ the required material in your inventory.
Sets of milestones are grouped into tiers. At the start of a new game session, only Tier 0 is available (unless Onboarding is skipped, which will skip Tier 0 as well). Completing Tier 0 unlocks Tiers 1 and 2, and completing phases of the Space Elevator unlocks higher tiers.
Parts inserted into the HUB Terminal cannot be taken back.
Tier 0: Onboarding
Tier 0 focuses on upgrading the HUB. Unlike milestones in later tiers, all the HUB upgrades must be completed in sequential order. Each milestone changes the HUB's appearance as well.
Before HUB Upgrade 1, only the following is available:
- Craft Bench recipes: Iron Ingot, Iron Plate and Iron Rod
- Equipment Workshop recipe: Xeno-Zapper (appears in the Codex, but can't be crafted before the Equipment Workshop itself is unlocked in HUB Upgrade 1)
- Buildings: The HUB and Craft Bench
- Resource Scanner: Iron Ore
Several Onboarding steps have to be completed before the HUB can be constructed and its terminal accessed to begin completing milestones.

- Note: The two Biomass Burners that are added to the HUB are smaller than the standalone version, each only produces 20 MW instead of 30 MW. They also burn fuel proportionally slower.
