Alternate recipes analysis
The following shows different ways to produce 1 Plastic / second, or 60 / min:
Recipe | Crude Oil m3/min (WP) |
Total Energy /item (MJ) |
Space (m2) |
Building counts |
---|---|---|---|---|
Default | 90 (76.92 ) |
(+95.01 ) | 763.02 | 3.84 |
Residual | 83.08 (71.01 ) |
(+29.24 ) | 1222.4 | 5.66 |
Recycled (Blender) |
20 (17.09 ) |
145.55 | 939.83 | 3.94 |
- Weighted Point is the weighted consumption rate which is calculated by:
(resource consumption rate / maximum extraction rate) * 10,000
. The lower the better. - Energy per item can be used to measure how much power is consumed for the entire production chain. The lower the better.
- Building space and building count are summed for all buildings, excluding belts, pipes, power poles, power lines and other logistic infrastructures. The lower the better.
- Energy can be recovered in some recipes, by first producing Residual Fuel then burn it in Fuel Generators. The leftover energy can be used to power other factory buildings.
- The most efficient production route involves several recipes as shown in the above diagram. If Blender is not yet unlocked, Diluted Packaged Fuel can be used instead, with slightly more power consumption.

Tips
Later in the game when you have collected the majority of the Hard Drives, be sure to unlock the following Alternate Recipes:
Combine these with Packaged Water, Unpackage Fuel, and Residual Rubber to form a closed-loop production of Plastic and/or Rubber without any wastage, increasing the Oil to Plastic/Rubber conversion ratio up to nearly 1:3 (The exact ratio is 1 Crude Oil to 2.8889 real yield on Plastic and/or Rubber, 9:26). Empty Canisters from fuel unpackaging are reused and recycled back to the water packaging.
Trivia
- On one corner of the item mesh there is a warning sign, 'Warning, choking hazard - small parts, not for children under 3 yrs'.
