The Manufacturer can be overclocked using Power Shards. Overclocking increases the input/output speed of the Manufacturer at the cost of exponentially increased power demand.

Trivia

• The Manufacturer appears to be constructing a Supercomputer, regardless of the actual recipe it is processing. It is, therefore, the only building where an actual in-game item appears to be constructed (both the Constructor and Assembler appear to construct non-existent parts seemingly out of iron).
• Unlike the Constructor and Assembler, the Manufacturer's crafting animation always plays at the same speed, rather than going faster or slower to keep pace with actual production.
• If a Manufacturer is repainted, the Supercomputers it appears to be manufacturing will share its new color scheme.
• Despite the new model being about 13 meters tall, its construction hitbox is only eight meters tall.
• The Manufacturer is the only production machine which has the inputs on the front. All other machines have the input on the back.
• In Patch 0.2.1.19, when the Manufacturer's model got updated, the back and front ends were swapped. This resulted in all existing Manufacturers in an updated save being reversed.

Early game development

Prior to Closed Alpha, not much is know about the development of the manufacturer but there was a building called Complex Constructor that functioned like a manufacturer.
