Beacon

The Beacon became deprecated tool that could be placed down to label a location on the compass and map. Due to it being functionally replaced with map markers, using Beacons for markers became a waste of resources, as placing markers directly is free. Loading a save with previously placed Beacons converted them to map markers automatically.

It remained in the game until Version 1.0 was released because it was used in the  Uranium Fuel Unit alternate recipe. It also had an alternate recipe of its own, which could be unlocked by scanning  Hard Drives.

Usage

Equipment

Beacons, once equipped, could be placed down to place a map marker.[1] The marker could then be edited and removed only through the map UI.[2]
