 Raw Quartz is added to the Resource Scanner via the Quartz Research chain in the MAM using:

Additionally, its resource scanner is unlocked in the Tier 7 milestone Bauxite Refinement.

Resource acquisition

Raw Quartz can be harvested by hand (default E) in trace amounts from resource deposits scattered across the world, or from inexhaustible resource nodes on which Miners can be constructed to extract automatically.

 Raw Quartz can be sunk into the AWESOME Sink to yield 15 points.

Tips

• Raw Quartz is a great source of AWESOME Sink points in the early game given how early it can be obtained and the number of points it gives before it becomes useful in later tiers.
• If being mined for the purpose of early AWESOME Sink point farming, processing Raw Quartz into Quartz Crystals or Silica before sinking it is a viable option to consider, if you are willing to build some Constructors and can afford the additional power requirement. Of the two options, Silica will improve the point yield slightly more than Quartz Crystals, but will require more total Constructors to process the same amount of Raw Quartz.
