Turbofuel
Turbofuel is an improved version of Fuel mixed with Compacted Coal.
Obtaining
Unlocking
All Turbofuel recipes require Tier 5 - Oil Processing to be researched, directly or indirectly.
The default Turbofuel recipe is unlocked in MAM Sulfur Research. The research itself costs Compacted Coal, thus it needs to be researched first.
The Turbo Heavy Fuel and Turbo Blend Fuel recipes are unlocked by scanning Hard Drives in the MAM. Each recipe has different prerequisites to appear in the selection pool: Turbo Heavy Fuel requires Compacted Coal to be researched in MAM Sulfur Research, while Turbo Blend Fuel requires Blenders to be available and Sulfur to be researched.

Notes
- Packaged Turbofuel can be used as Vehicle fuel and in the Jetpack.
- It can be used to power Fuel Generators.
Fuel vs Turbofuel Efficiency
Using the Turbo Blend Fuel and Diluted Fuel recipes:
- 1m3 Heavy Oil Residue creates 1m3 Turbofuel, or 2000 MJ
- 1m3 Heavy Oil Residue creates 2m3 Fuel, or 1500 MJ
This makes Turbofuel 1.33x as efficient as Fuel, at the cost of Sulfur.
To create 2,000MW of power 60m3/min of Turbofuel is needed or 160m3/min of Fuel is needed. Using the same recipes as before, the Turbofuel is made from 45m3/min Crude Oil and 30 Sulfur/min while the Fuel is made from 60m3/min Crude Oil. This gives Turbofuel a weighted point value of about 82.32 and Fuel a weighted point value of about 51.28 for 2,000MW of power. This means that for weighted resource efficiency Turbo Fuel is about 1.6x as expensive for an equivalent amount of power.
However turning Fuel into Turbofuel raises the maximum potential MW production from 390,000MW from Fuel alone, to 504,000MW (456,000MW via Turbofuel + 48,000MW turning remaining Crude Oil into Fuel)
Tips
- Two Turbofuel power setup tutorials are available, see Fuel Generator#Setting up Fuel power for a generalized setup or Tutorial:How to play#Turbofuel Power for a specific detailed setup.

Schematic of Turbofuel production based on 300 m3/min of Crude Oil and 533.34 Sulfur and Coal/min to yield 666.66 m3/min of Turbofuel. Uses Diluted Packaged Fuel loop. Less power efficient but available earlier than the Blender version. Note that this diagram was made before patch 0.3.6 introduced the Packager, and so shows packaging operations being performed by Refineries.
Schematic of Turbofuel production based on 500 m3/min of Crude Oil and 333.34 Sulfur/min to yield 666.66 m3/min of Turbofuel. Reduces Sulfur usage and eliminates coal usage. However increases oil usage.
