Alternate recipes analysis
The following shows different ways to produce 1 m3 of Fuel / second, or 60 m3/min:
Recipe | Crude Oil m3/min (WP) |
Total Energy /m3 (MJ) |
Space (m2) |
Building counts |
---|---|---|---|---|
Default | 90 (76.92) |
97.79 | 300 | 1.5 |
Residual | 67.5 (57.69) |
152.8 (+56%) | 750 (+150%) | 3.75 |
Diluted Packaged |
22.5 (19.23) |
95.94 (-2%) | 478 (+59%) | 3.75 |
Diluted (Blender) |
22.5 (19.23) |
90.94 (-7%) | 322.8 (+8%) | 1.35 |
- Weighted Point is the weighted consumption rate which is calculated by:
(resource consumption rate / maximum extraction rate) * 10,000
. The lower the better. - Energy per item can be used to measure how much power is consumed for the entire production chain. The lower the better.
- Space refers to building space, excluding belts and pipes. The lower the better.
- Energy for sinking byproducts is considered, assuming using Conveyor Belt Mk.4.
- As 1 m3 of Fuel contains 750 MJ, subtracting its manufacturing energy will show the net energy gain.

Notes
- It can be used to power Fuel Generators.
- To be used as Vehicle or Jetpack fuel, it has to be packaged first.
Tips
- Diluted Fuel pairs with the Heavy Oil Residue alternate recipe.
- Using 450 m3/min Crude Oil will result in whole amounts of all machines involved: 15 Heavy Oil Residue Refineries, 10 Water Extractors, 12 Diluted Fuel Refineries and 100 Fuel Generators. 450 m3/min Crude Oil can be obtained from three 250% impure Oil Extractors.
- The Diluted Fuel alternate recipe is 10% more power-efficient than the Diluted Packaged Fuel alternate recipe. To produce 300 m3/min Fuel, either three Blenders at 100 m3/min and 75 MW are used, consuming 225 MW, or five Refineries at 60 m3/min and 30 MW (consuming 150 MW), five packaging Packagers at 120 m3/min at 10 MW (consuming 50 MW) and five unpackaging Packagers at 60 m3/min at 10 MW (consuming 50 MW), consuming 250 MW. It is, therefore, all-round more power-efficient to use Diluted Fuel.
Machine | Amount | Consumption | Total consumption |
