Satisfactory features its own music soundtrack, composed by Jannik Reuterberg aka Sleeper's Delight aka Dream Thing.[1]

In-game music is ambient. Tracks are tied to the biome, time of day and player actions, such as factory building or exploration. A unique track plays on the title screen.

Additionally, the  Boom Box can be used to play Tapes, which feature their own set of tracks.

According to CSS Sound Designer Sacha Mathelet, all music is streamed from the players hard drive and not from memory (RAM).[2]

Soundtrack

The official soundtrack was released on March 28, 2024.[3] It can be purchased on Steam and might be released on other streaming platforms.[4]

It does not feature Boom Box tracks (with one exception), and it currently does not feature a release that includes trailer music such as the tracks produced by Ghostwood Empire.

  2. This is the theme used in the Satisfactory Reveal Trailer from E3 2018[5]
  3. This track was previously named "Satisfactory Dev Highlight Music", having since been renamed by the composer to "Thanks Jace, helps a lot!", then finally to it's current name of "Nostalgium".[6][7][8]

Official description

The Satisfactory Soundtrack, with its luscious ear massaging synths, is the perfect musical companion for exploring alien planets and achieving maximum efficiency!

Almost 4 hours of FICSIT approved music have been thoughtfully composed and mixed by Jannik Reuterberg, aka “Dream Thing”, to let time fly by in the blink of an eye. It contains a total of 46 tracks divided over two disks in both MP3 and FLAC format.[9]

Song names

Many tracks are named after psychological phenomena. Explained briefly, these are:

  • Pygmalion effect - higher expectations yield greater results, lower expectations yield worse results.
  • Peltzman effect - if the risk of an activity is perceived as low, people tend to act less cauteously.
  • Zeigarnik effect - if an activity is interrupted, it is more easily recalled.
  • Fan effect - the more one knows about a concept, the longer it takes to recall specific information about it.
  • Dunning-Kruger effect - people with limited competence in a given field overestimate their abilities while more experienced people tend to underestimate their abilities.
  • C-Parks effect - named after Caterina Parks, CEO of FICSIT inc. This is a fictious psycological effect with no known description.
  • Ringelmann effect - the more people are in a group, the less productive individual members become.
  • Crespi effect - if the previous one was not as rewarding as expected, less effort is put into the next task. If the previous task was more rewarding than expected, more effort is put into the next task.

Some other song names are based on non-english names or expressions:

  • Sirocco - also known as Scirocco. A hot, fast mediterranean wind coming from the Sahara.
  • Silva - latin for "woodland" or "forest"
  • Post Tenebras - latin for "after darkness"
