The Hypertube brake is a structure appended to the end of a Hypertube for the purposes of slowing down prior to exit. This is mainly useful when dealing with high-speed Hypertubes, which can occur from long drops vertically or when combined with a Fully enclosed Hypertube cannon.

This is to prevent the Pioneer from breaking the game's physics engine, where a Pioneer exiting a Hypertube may phase through structures, walls and/or terrain.

Note: There must still be a wall in place to block the path of the Pioneer exiting the Hypertube brake. Otherwise, the Pioneer may still phase through unloaded terrain.

Construction

The Hypertube brake is simple to construct, only requiring 2 Hypertube Entrances, 2 Hypertube Supports, some Hypertube and sufficient power (at least 10MW).

To build the Hypertube brake then:

  1. At the terminal support for the tube, extend the tube by 2m and place another support. Ensure that the placed support is inline with the terminal support.
  2. Remove the tube between the terminal support and the placed support.
  3. From the placed support, extend the tube another 2m. However, this can be attached to any length of Hypertube afterwards. This is to prevent the Pioneer from re-entering the Hypertube after exiting
  4. Place Hypertube Entrances on the terminal support and the opposing Hypertube support.
  5. Power the entrances.

This can be simplified to only a powered Hypertube Entrance. However, by only having an entrance, it is possible for the Pioneer to re-enter the Hypertube, which may be undesirable behavior. This is also less reliable.
