Talk:Multiplayer

One of the current (11/2020) artifacts of multiplayer is the fact that the "bodies" of the other players remain frozen in place, from wherever they last logged off. It's more than a little freaky, in such an isolated playing environment, to come around an unfamiliar corner and literally run into a person (who is actually there, blocking the path and construction). Something about the way it stands there? I keep expecting to turn around and see they've moved while I wasn't looking. Echoes of those Dr. Who statues (shudder). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.146.101.212 (talk • contribs) at 17:04, Nov 7 2020 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Network Lag fix, numbers might be too high.

The numbers seem overly generous on the network lag fix recommendation. This might cause problems for people who have less than perfect network connections as well as those who have issues with LAN adapter bandwidth and IP stack bandwidth (Common problems on lower end computers and laptops.)

The value is in bytes a second, not bits a second, so the number of bits per a second should be divided by 8. It is also before adjusting for certain network protocol overhead functions.

The file default already contains a nice limit for LAN. (120000) This is 120KB/sec or slightly below 1Mbit/s (which gives margin for overhead). Using that option, or increasing it to 480000 would be a good option. --Ruediix (talk) 06:28, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

That's why the beginning of the section says a stable internet connection is required. This is proven to work well, although I admit noone probably tested it on a lower-end device.
Possibly a footnote could be created where these lower values are mentioned. --Ondar111 (talk) 09:29, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
Just added it to the article, let me know what you think. --Ondar111 (talk) 11:51, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
