Signatures are used to identify your contribution to a discussion on talk pages and wiki discussion boards.

Using signatures

When posting on a talk page or wiki discussion board, let it be a new section, or just a reply, add ~~~~ at the end your message. Upon saving your edit, this will be replaced with your signature, containing your username and the edit date. Adding signatures is wiki etiquette. A signature looks like this:

Username (talk) 21:32, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

If someone forgets to add a signature to their post, you can use {{Unsigned}} to add a replacement signature for them. The template looks like this:

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Username (talk • contribs) at 21:32, 9 April 2023 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

In this case, you have to supply the username and date yourself: {{Unsigned|Username|21:32, 9 April 2023 (UTC)}}. Ensure the datetime is in UTC and does not confront to your local date settings. This can be easily done by opening the talk page's history in an anonymous browser window.

Customizing your signature

With an account, you can customize your signature in your user preferences. You can use custom in-line CSS styling for your signature, but kindly keep it legible. Any signature can be, as long as it contains your username (if you use the "treat as wikitext" option, you also have to ensure it links to your user page, otherwise this happens automatically).
