Will this page stick?

Hey, I was just going through the tutorial pages as not all of them are represented in the navbar. I just removed the link to the old "Setting up Coal power" page, as the standalone page was merged into the "how to play" page last year.

As this is a standalone page at the moment, I would add it to the Navbar, but seeing as the coal power equivalent was merged, should this page be kept separate? Both pages should probably be treated the same for consistency, unless fuel power requires its own page more than coal did.

Another option could be to resurrect the standalone coal power page. This'd let us have a subsection on the tutorial navbar section for power setups, and I'm sure it'd be joined by a nuclear tutorial in time. There might be advantages on having more separated topic pages instead of rolling most tutorial content into the one walkthrough page. BlackholeWI (talk) 14:15, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

It's a long story. Coal power tutorial was too long, so it was moved to a subpage, then merged into another guide. Fuel power tutorial was made to achieve "consistency", which no longer makes sense as the coal power page is non-existent.
I would argue it'd be best to merge this page back into the Fuel Generator page where it used to be. --Ondar111 (talk) 15:54, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
Isn't it a little long for being just a subsection of the Fuel Generator page? Lundurro (talk) 22:26, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
I agree with Lundorro. As a newbie I expect the Fuel Generator page to show me basic facts about the building. Tutorials/How-Tos/Guides should be on a separate page. (Not sure how/where that should show up in that section though...) --KayHude (talk) 13:19, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply, the merge notice had been there for ages, so I just removed it. --Ondar111 (talk) 19:17, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Preventing an Edit War...

Preface: Yes, I'm new to this Wiki, but my experience in other wikis is to discuss changes, either on the article talk page or on the user talk page, and not simply remove them. I'm referring to this change: https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/index.php?title=Tutorial:Setting_up_Fuel_Power&diff=prev&oldid=49031

@Temporal Illusion, I agree that there are multiple Sink optimization guidelines, and adding every option to every guide would severely bloat the wiki. But I thought that it is obvious that my edit was related to the specific issue of getting rid of these specific byproducts of this specific production. My understanding of a tutorial is to give new players a helpful guideline how to set up their production, and IMO incresaing Sink points would be one aspect of that.

I'm open to discuss this change and welcome any other opinions on this topic. --KayHude (talk) 14:25, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

I think the note is fine, assuming the numbers are right. Polymer Resin has 3 products (Plastic, Rubber, and Fabric), and if either Plastic or Rubber yield more points than Fabric, the statement is true. While it's true they can each be used to produce more complex parts that yield more points, that requires additional inputs, and is kinda besides the point.
Thank you, KayHude, for responsibly posting on a talk page! --Ondar111 (talk) 17:35, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
You spoke of using Awesome Sink to handle Polymer Resin By-Product and recommended convert to Plastic then Empty Containers that each have 60 Sink Points. What about simple conversion to Fabric that each have 140 Sink Points. Obviously spacing used is different depending on what "method" is used, and how the Awesome Sink is used to maintain production is a matter of individual preference and can become a whole discussion that might be better shown on an Awesome Sink sub-page like "AWESOME_Sink/Point maximization".
